Aliens: Alien 2 on the Famicom Disk System! This was developed by Square back when they were struggling to sell games and would have released in Japan only. This is because, for whatever reason, Aliens made way more money in Japan than in any other foreign market, with it pulling in $9 million. That may not seem like a lot, but accounting for inflation, that’s like $500 billion. Anyway, being a FDS game, Aliens came on a double-sided floppy disk and has pretty long loading screens. I get that Square was probably tight on cash because they hadn’t made Final Fantasy yet, but how could they not release this? Floppy disks were way cheaper to produce than cartridges, and the FDS was a decent hit in Japan. The MSX version of the game, which did release, is regarded as a cult classic now, and that version looks significantly worse than this. I guess it doesn’t matter if the game released now because anyone can emulate it. I’m writing all this to increase watch time so the video doesn’t flop by the way. #aliens #alienfranchise #famicomdisksystem #retrogames #retrogaming
