I re did the complete front end and rear shocks and springs on my HHR. $1500 for parts. Another $2k for labor. I bought the parts and rented a bay.

Old mechanic vs new mechanic. Just b/c ball joint comes as part of lower control arm doesn’t mean you can’t just change the ball joint.
