I think it depends on the company. My company has unlimited PTO, and they want us to at least take 2-4 weeks off each year.

If the company has unlimited PTO and also has MTO ( mandatory time off ) it can actually be a pretty good thing. Otherwise an immediate red flag.

I love the unlimited PTO. When I “earned” it I always saved for some horrible future (like sick kid). Now I take for random things & vacay & sick.

I know some companies scam their unlmtd PTO, but not all! I took four weeks off last year and got told in my last 1:1 to take more 😂

we just started an unlimited pto policy but with a twist. we call it responsible pto and have required minimums to take off.
