My confession for my 1st trimester was I kept my pregnancy a secret for as long as I could. I don’t want to consider myself superstitious, but I also didn’t want to share my second pregnancy until I overcame my first trimester! Once we hit the 2nd trimester, I felt great all around. Like I literally felt AMAZING. The 2nd trimester was a rewarding break from my constant suffering in the previous trimester & the following trimester to follow 🥴 I didn’t continue weight lifting, but did my best to do body weight work outs like Pilates. Daddy accompanied me on our walks together where we averaged ~ 2 miles a few days a week. I was energized until… I started feeling out of breath & easily light headed. At this time we didn’t understand what was happening. I nearly passed out at work repositioning my pediatric patient on the OR bed. My coworkers said at the time of the incident, I was super pale and sweaty. So I mentioned it to my OB and she referred me out to the Fetal Maternal Medicine doctors for further evaluation. These doctors handle “high-risk” pregnancies. My asthma was a concern for them along with @princessa.azabae Alopecia diagnosis. During this evaluation they had me do blood draws and one of the doctors diagnosed me with Iron Deficiency Anemia. They had me start taking iron pills once a day and may or may not increase to twice a day in my 3rd trimester. The iron pills helps me so much 😭 At this time we also found out our baby’s gender (I’ve shared a previous video about this with all of you!) and did her fetal anatomy scans where everything was normal and low risk of defects! I didn’t gain a lot of weight here, I think at most I was in my mid 130’s? My pre-pregnancy weight is 120-ish lbs. at 5’3. I also didn’t have a lot of cravings per se. I just love & enjoy food, but was careful with sweets 🥵 How I handled my struggles: • Iron deficiency anemia: daily iron pills & incorporating more protein & dark leafy veggies in my diet • controlling my weight gain: small frequent portions & limiting my sweet intake + walking about 2 miles a few times each week Sharing my 3rd trimester experiences next! #pregnancy #secondtrimester #coolmom #fyp
