If your weight has gone up a lot more than you expected over the bank holiday, this is why you shouldn’t freak out. I’m using myself as an example as my weight went up by 1.1kg from Saturday to This morning. If your weight goes up on the scale by 1-2kg, it can be difficult not to think you’ve gained loads of fat overnight. My weight went up by 1.1kg in 3 days. But for all that weight increase to be fat gain, I would have to consume 15,800 calories across 3 days, or 5270 each day. my maintenance calories are 2700. 2700 x 3 + 7700 (1kg of fat ) = 15,800 or 5270 across 3 days. If I had eaten that much, my weight gain would be from fat. But I ate 3300 calories x 3 = 9,900 - A surplus of 600 a day or 1800 calories over 3 days. This would be about 0.5lbs of fat gain across 3 days, so not close to that total weight gain of 1.1kg or 2.4 lbs. But If I was in a deficit In the days following up to this, It could even out into maintenance across the week and I wouldn’t have gained fat. The weight gain would just be from the increase in glycogen stores, water weight and intestinal weight. Essentially what I’m saying is, if you’ve been in a deficit this week and your weights gone up after the bank holiday. It’s very unlikely your total weight gain is going to be from fat. So please don’t freak out and over restrict yourself over the coming days or punish yourself with extra exercise. You enjoyed the bank holiday - Now just get back into your normal training and nutrition and you’ll be fine 👍🏼
