Most scanners do that especially with GM’s rpo codes. It’s rather annoying. The euro’s you gotta know the engine codes for the specific engine also.

GM does this even with their OEM software I have no clue why they can’t automatically pull RPOs from the vin since they are looked up by vin 🤦♂️

Yep, we have to do that with GM’s fancy Techline Connect software too. Their own software can’t even pull the RPO’s 😂

It’s not the scanners. It’s gm systems. The gm scan tools do it too. All the aftermarket scanners just duplicate the gm software

I have the latest MaxiSys 906PRO; and they’ve gotten rid of much, but not all, of that. Launch and snap-on still occasionally require RPO inputs too
