in Japan everyone sets their stuff out on a certain day for the taking. communities need to organize that here.

My college took in donations at the end of the year, then sold them (for cheap) to incoming students at the beginning of the next year.

My husband made A LOT of money at a move in day yard sale when we lived next to a college after collecting on move out day.

I wish colleges would set up donation sites. My son had 24 hours after his last final to be out of the dorm and then had to fly home.

Things get tossed because often move out dates are the same week as finals. There just isn’t enough time to do it properly, so things get thrown out

I think we should have an alternate system: just donation boxes instead of dumpsters and have facilitators to help students sort during that week
