2023 Squat 314lbs/142kg > 2024 Squat 363lbs/165kg About a year ago today my life was forever changed. I gained 1 million of you beautiful people following me. In the span of a week, life as I knew it would never be the same. I broke my ankle when I was 15 years old, had to quit gymnastics which was my whole entire life. I lost my identity, and felt as if I had no purpose in this world anymore. That summer I turned to restrictive eating and over exercising as a way to control something in my life when I felt like my world was falling apart. The dopamine I received from seeing the number on the scale go down, was really the only thing that was making me somewhat content at that point of my life. Senior year of high school I dropped out, and got my GED. I was in such a mentally bad place, and had little will to live. I was working 3 jobs, and finally started getting into the gym. The gym, specifically powerlifting…saved my life. I felt passion, purpose, JOY for the first time in 2 years. I began to focus on how much weight I could lift, instead of the amount I weighed on the scale. Powerlifting for me, and for many other lifters is so much more than just lifting weights. Moral of the story, you were put on this earth for a reason. You may not be aware of what that reason is now, but I promise you that there is a reason. Being given the opportunity to show so many people how great powerlifting really is, is the greatest blessing of all. I am grateful to be able to inspire people to not let their mental health, or eating disorders, or life circumstances get in the way of achieving greatness. Rest at the end, not in the middle. Keep going and never ever give up even when you feel hopeless, even when you feel unworthy. Something bigger is waiting for you in the future, you just have to keep pushing. 💗
