Sometimes if lack of credit is only reason your app is denied you can ask them to put down a larger deposit in lieu of a co-signer! (Did this twice)

Please check the laws in your area before signing! For example, in New York they can only require one months rent as deposit.

also for credit score if you know someone with a credit card and they make you an authorized user, that counts towards your credit too.

I have met exactly one person who has ever gotten their deposit back so just run on the assumption it’s not coming back ESPECIALLY if you have a pet.
