No. In the south you get you 2 paper plates at the end. Fill up your plate and the other is a lid.

Yeah, this is not a southern thing. In the south we share and everyone goes home with a plate or more of leftovers (and you are forced to take some).

In Mexican homes, everyone takes home food and preferably in your own dish, and everyone washes dishes, sweeps up and take out the trash.

I've never been to a potluck. I've only been to family events where we send everyone home with food so nobody has too many leftovers.

This is what we do. Everyone brings a dish or 2 or3. We always share leftovers becayse usually you are doing the person a favor if a lot is left.
