US Bombs Japan Again #usa #america The US just bombed Japan.. well like.. Kind of. An American 500 pound bomb dropped during World War Two exploded at an airport, creating a huge crater in the runway - canceling at least 80 flights. The bomb had been buried under the airport. And this is pretty common. Last year, Japan found and disposed of over 2,000 bombs that Americans had dropped on the country. Every year Germans find over 2,000 tons of unexploded World War Two bombs that were dropped on them. It’s estimated that over 3 million tons of unexploded bombs are still undiscovered across Europe and it’s not just a side effect of the Second World War. There is still a huge swathe of French forest that is so riddled with explosives from the First World War that it could take over 700 years before humans can safely enter again. Over 100,000 civilians have been killed or wounded since the war in Vietnam due to unexploded bombs and around the world, nearly 20,000 people are killed or maimed every year from unexploded ordnance. While the US has spent billions on assisting nations in uncovering and removing bombs, it’s a long process. It’s a very real reminder that war continues on long after the peace treaties are signed and the victory parades are had because it’s not a video game, the world doesn’t reset after the match. The trauma, the destruction, the loss continues on for generations and in 50 years, Ukrainians will still be dying from the remnants of Russian aggression.
