It’s just simple genetics! Take a square cut into four and say one of those is the blue gene and the other are wild.

Maybe the other shrimp that Johnny mated with had the genotype in their DNA that makes blue colored shrimp I’m no expert but that’s one explanation—

Most shrimp have blue/red/yellow shrimp in there genetics and them breeding with say red doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be blue

I have several tanks with reds and yellows and they've stayed pretty consistent. I have gotten a few clear, brown and dark green though.

sooo.. this happens bc this shrimp ended up with two recessive blue genes instead of two opposite recessive genes, so it didnt have to "roan/revert"

Wonder if this is like Labradors. Where depending on the parents genes they know what color they will have. I think anyway. 😂

the "ghost shrimp" are often culls from other shrimp and as such can carry various color geans also mixing two colors gets u a mix and brown and wild

all crustaceans have the blue color possibilities im not sure if thats what happened here but you can get blue crustaceans from two clear parents 💙

we caught a wild one out if the river(australia) we kept her cos she was blue. after 2 molts she reverted to a wild green colour.
