I worked at a bank for 7 years. Serviced many atms. They’re never off. The money goes into a specific chamber. They would credit you what was there.

And this is why I never deposit cash in the ATM only checks. It’s always safer to do deposit 💵 with bank teller inside the bank.

How u not know the exact amount? Did u not count before hand? The atm always asks to confirm. Also, always go to a bank teller for deposits over 100.
