Sleeved, but they over bored it and the sleeve was too loose. Welding it was the answer is my guess

I wonder if the top of the bore was damaged and rather than a sleeve they just welded the top of the bore.

had a block that the machine shop used one catspaw the wrong size. They bored down about 1/4” before he realized it. Welded it up and bored and decked

resleeve without stopper at the bottom so they weld the sleeve so that it will not move

Yeah I doubt a sleeve too… assume it’s a machining fault (though those 6’s aren’t super rare and you’d think they’d just swap the block 😂)

Fire ring failure with lot of running lead to deck damage. Since reman ask only for engine to turn to be qualified for a good core.

had one the bore bit wasn't secured properly and slipped doing a lip bore. had to weld to fix the gouges it made

they sleeved it, they tight bored it then dipped sleeve in nitrogen ,welded the top, decked to to finish

they bored over sized and they made new sleeve and welded and pressed it in. the line is from the tool bit when they pulled it back thru the bore

Had cracks or chips and they welded globs back on and honed it back square. I’ve seeen it done

it's a Ford 300 grab another piston off the shelf toss it in there and pour concrete for oil in it and it's good for another 200 thousand

It looks to me like its been sleeved and welded in. My father weled sleeves in a race motor with oversized sleeves for bigger pistons.

In Jamaica we and weld on top to lower compression or to save the head or block if the surface is too bad
