I definitely am. I get to school at 7am, leave at 4:30-5. Then do 2-3 hours a night.

I get to work at 7:30am and leave by 4pm. I do nothing else. Mental health comes first :) I love my job but I love my life too..

Any teacher working more than 45 hours a week isn’t managing their time that well! Leadership positions are a different beast though

As someone that comes from a teachers house hold.. thank you for being honest with hours . Some 👩🏫 over exaggerate their hours honestly

I definitely overdid it in my first years but now I've not only got time management down, but if stuff doesn't get done? Sorry, haven't had time. +

You’ve just admitted to working 45-50 hours a week when you’re paid for 38. Exploitative either way.

As a second year teacher my philosophy is that if not done between 8 and 5:00 then I’ll do it tomorrow. After 5:00 Ive clocked out.

The problem is a full time teacher only gets paid for working 30 hrs per week but a normal teacher works 40-45hrs 🤷🏻♂️

if you're doing 8-4pm then you're one of the lucky ones. most of us have been doing 7:30-5pm minimum for the last 2 years

I’m definitely close to this and have been on and off during the years. Different settings required different work hours.

I only work part time but I can easily do 7.30-5.30 at school and then come home and still have more to do on the days I don’t work. It’s ridiculous

@mrcurmisclassroom Did you find your work more in your first year of teaching and as you got more experience you were able to just do the 8 hrs a day?

I get to school most days at 7:30 and leave around 5 each today, only to do more work at home. So I’d say I work 60-70 hours a week as a teacher.

when I first started teaching I did 70 hours, but we had half the nit

I’m about 8.30am to 5.30pm, but try to keep stuff at work. Add on about an extra hour at home a night. Weekends it varies from a little to a lot.

Depends on what subjects you teach. I’m an 11/12 English teacher and spend like 15 hours per week marking essays outside of school hours

Eni :
Federation is saying the average is 60 hours. I think the figure is a little inflated. I personally think 45-50 is more accurate
