He trains at the Allstar Training Center in Stockholm , alongside three-time UFC light heavyweight challenger Alexander Gustafsson , Ilir Latifi and Reza Madadi, among others. Gustafsson (one of his main training partners) told a Swedish reporter during a press conference in June 2019 that Chimaev is one of the best fighters he has ever trained with. Early career Edit Between September 2017 and April 2018, Chimaev fought three amateur MMA fights. The first of these was against future IMMAF world champion Khaled Laallam, whom he defeated by submission in the second round. [ 16 ] He won his next two amateur fights, one by submission and one by technical knockout, and finished his amateur career with a record of 3-0. Chimaev turned professional on May 26, 2018 at the International Ring Fight Arena 14 against Gard Olve Sagen. [ 17 ] He won the fight by technical knockout in the second round.
