As a St. Louisan, I refer to anything more than an hour outside chicago as "Southern Illinois" ' anything within an hour is just "kinda near chicago"

no, you’re so right. 70 is the dividing line. i grew up 10 miles north of 70 and we called ourselves south central illinois 🤷🏼♂️
