This video means so much to me because it holds an entire year of memories with Alex, from the very first days of 1st grade, all the way through the summer, and now right into a brand new year tomorrow. 🫶🏼 It’s one thing to have a job, but this has never just been a job for me. Autism is something I am so deeply passionate about, and watching Alex grow has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Looking back at these pictures and videos, I see not just moments, but milestones, things that once felt impossible becoming reality. From the tiny bites he was hesitant to take, to now eating full meals (even meat!)… that kind of progress is something I’ll never stop celebrating. Alex is nonverbal, yet we’ve built such a strong bond that I can understand him whether it’s through the little sounds he makes or even just the look on his face. To me, that’s one of the most beautiful parts of our journey, knowing that I can hear him and see him in ways many people can’t. He’s so much more than “a student.” He’s like my little brother. I would do anything to advocate for him, protect him, and cheer him on because I know just how much potential he holds. He’s one of the smartest kids I know, and truthfully, he’s taught me more than I could ever teach him. Working with him doesn’t even feel like work, it feels like purpose. I’m so proud of how far he’s come, and I’m beyond hopeful for what this year will bring as I get to be his focused aid. 🫶🏼 This video makes me emotional because it reminds me of the progress, the challenges, and the love that got us here. So if it makes you tear up, I get it, it makes me cry too. Here’s to another year of growth, breakthroughs, and celebrating every victory, big or small. 🫶🏼
