They were designed to move on uneven surfaces, to adapt to different terrain (rocks, sand, grass etc) and manage load / forces coming from the ground. However, these joint often become stiff and painful because they are not used as intended. .Supportive, rigid, heeled shoes and lack of surface variety has undermined the function and mobility of our feet.
