As a service HVAC for 28 years. This will not help at all. It is the hot air coming into the unit. They tried this in Kuwait and it didn’t work in 130

Spray outside unit with water to clean the coils and maintain good airflow and change inside air filter and that always helps a lot.

Umbrella work as long as you allow the air flow past the umbrella. Placing directly over the top allows the hot air to be sucked back into the unit

Nooooo,turn your AC to 78 and run your ceiling and other fans you might have on.You have a 2 story home,so your home temperature will not maintain .

I used a sun shade material to block the direct sun from beating on my unit. did not cover the top. blocking direct sun does help a lot.
