I had to discuss the recent removal of Kehinde Wiley’s work from the US Embassy in the Dominican Republic because it is truly ABSURD 🤦🏾‍♂️ Spreading “woke and globalist ideologies” and it’s just 4 black people from your own country in a beautiful painting 🫩 But this also plays into a larger convo I have been having on this page for years now, the conservative push in art (and fashion). Removing and suppressing minority (especially black) representation under the guise of DEI. The reality is, all it has really done is foster more discrimination and racism 🤦🏾‍♂️ And on top of that, these artists are suffering for simply not being straight, white, christian men. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you genuinely can’t be a conservative in America and into art/fashion/any creative field really. Because time and time again, this administration has shown to remove and suppress any creativity from a minority 🤦🏾‍♂️ #art
