Heck I learned ASL bc I realized too few folks know it and I enjoy helping people that need it when others are too ignorant to learn

i’m in asl and people come in my class to talk about their families and usually their parents don’t learn asl and i feel like that’s really sad

Aaaaand this is why as a CODA I never was taught sign language. Because my mom never learned it. Never was given a chance to.

I had a deaf student with a cochlear, her mom tells me when we first met "she's just like normal kids when she has the cochlear on". I was like 😳

As more people learn sign language over time, the more common it becomes. It’s not the parents fault if the info wasn’t available to them.
