I’m a nurse and I do the same… my dog has an amazing life 4 days a week. He sleeps for hours my 3 days I work. I’ve had him for 5 years. No issues.

My 90# pittie is an active dog, we live next to a nature reserve, and walk or run for at least 3 miles a day, and she’s crated 8hr while I’m at work

it's not just about safety either, it can be about letting the dog have their own space, their own room to go to when they need it. love crates

I do the same thing before and after work but I fully house trained my dog.Nothing against crates I just don’t need to.

@shanewmurray that may be the majority, but it is not my dogs. Both are highly trained and well exercised. Also well behaved at home loose all day.
