Doctor is correct. Blood can detect HSV 1 and 2. But not where it is infected, mouth or gentitals. Also 70-90% are infected w HSV 1 on their mouth

That’s what a Nurse Practitioner told me. She never tests for that unless they have symptoms because a lot of people have it anyways.

I've also been told by a Provider the reason they don't do pap smears evey year anymore is because most of us have HPV as well. CDC now recommends
