It’s nothing more than a recommendation. Kids who are recommended to go to „Hauptschule“ probably need more assistance and support.

The first recommendation is made after 4th grade then the final one is done after 6th grade. You always have the choice to move up in school via tests

You can always transfer as soon as you improve. I did it. I went from „dumb school“ to „smart school“ and here I am: masters degree

i actually thibk it is good. every child can learn with materials that suit them and meets their needs. it is not an issue though between Students.

Forcing kids into one school is horrible. Either you make all schools cater to every level and have different types of classes. Or you separate them.
