Another misconception is that selenite is very toxic. If you Google "selenite toxic" you'll get sodium selenite, which is totally different stuff.

So I’m getting some mixed signals here. So I should use quarts but I should never put a crystal in my body so I shouldn’t use quarts?

Don't put it in your body, or any crystal, for a multitude of reasons. But CaSO4 is added to water for flavor, but too much will give you diarrhea

Fun fact, gypsum has retrograde/inverse solubility, meaning it dissolves faster in cold water than warm.
