The other day, I was sitting outside of one of my favorite San Francisco coffee shops enjoying a solo breakfast on a quiet Sunday morning. I had just finished facilitating a sound bath and was waiting for my friend to get to the city for a content photoshoot. As I was finishing up my breakfast, I decided to whip out my phone and take a quick video of myself for some content. I put my purse on the table, propped my phone up against it, and began recording myself. A few seconds in, I hear giggling coming from beside me. I look a few feet away and see a table with three girls, all laughing and staring at me. “Oh my god, she looks so dumb filming herself.” “Who does she think she is, an influencer?” “Look at her, drinking her coffee and filming herself. She thinks she’s soooooo special.” Past me would have immediately stopped filming, grabbed my stuff, and ran as far away as possible. But the me of now? I kept filming, drinking my coffee, and even looked over at them and smiled. In fact, the video shows the exact moment I heard them talking about me. The reality is, people hate on things that they don’t have, but secretly want, because they’re afraid that they will never actually get them. But, you will never hear someone who actually has what they’re wanting, talk down on someone else who has or wants it, too.
