my understanding is with potatoes, they don't do aswell in pots above ground because the roots get too warm, and instead focus of foliage.

They have a coating on them to extend the life. Which makes them harder to grow.

those are sweet potatoes I think also potatoes you should wait till yellow plants to harvest
