Just to add, the Spanish pronunciation of "c" that you made is only done in Spain. In all Latin America is like an "s" as in the French example

in spanish its pronounced "cantAr" not "cAntar", for it to be pronounced the way you did it it would be written like "cántar" and not "cantar"
