Solid surface has invisible seams and can be back lit or lit from under the countertop. It looks like real stone but it a lot cheaper.

I thought this was super helpful. we are going to have over 8ft of counter. a seam never occurred to me. maybe I should drop the vanity.

It makes sense that it would be lower not because of the seam but because a vanity and make up counter are different heights. 34” vs 30”.
