As a hairstylist I feel this 🙌🏻 for a lot of my clients i’m their only outlet and it’s a lot to take in by that many different people in one day 🫠

What about neurodivergent people who accidentally overshare because of not understanding what’s acceptable in certain contexts/with certain people?

I can hear anything & I don’t always need to react or respond. The person needs to share & I can listen for a few mins.

I think it’s unfair the way many people are framing it as a manipulative tactic when it might often just be a desperate albeit misplaced cry for help

what if the person who's 'trauma dumping' takes to setting the boundary negatively? as if they don't think the person thier talking to cares?

I agree it's about boundaries but I also think there's a certain amount of weaponising trauma to invalidate another person's experience...

Im not a fan of the term. It kind sounds like they are negating the truama. I like that you said it’s basically the same as setting boundaries cause..

I don’t know whether it’s toxic, but I bet it’s just really common. We’re so accustomed to people NOT caring and NOT listening that we might just

I am very tempted to leave an honest yet negative google review on my FORNER therapist. But I know how harmful a review can be and I don’t know

The only time I heard that term is when people would “trauma dump” in the comments of someone’s video.

Been on both sides. It’s hard to keep ur pain a secret, and also hard when ppl trauma dump while you’re trying to heal yourself :(

Yes I do think the action of it can be toxic. When it is being done by a perspective or new partner. It’s a good indicator they haven’t dealt with their trauma. I do agree the receiver needs to set “boundaries” unless you want the become the therapist instead of partner.

I absolutely agree. It is incredibly toxic and unhealthy for the dumper and the “dumpees”. Unfortunately there’s an audience and appetite for it.
