nash :
im INSANELY late, but i love yapping and i love agott & olly parallels so brace urself 😇
one of the first things we see with their relationship is olly allowing agott to see magic's true purpose in a time of some else's need (custas' first appearance), that purpose being to help bring happiness to others. olly's character is based around that purpose; whether its his job as a watchful eye or as a contraption-maker, he's always been reaching his hand out to offer help. meanwhile agott has always seen magic as a ladder to climb, has always put herself at the first step, focusing on her destination and never stopping to ACTUALLY enjoy casting spells.
these two facts may seem opposing, but the fact that they both see magic as a standard (however different their standards are) is the similarity in that difference.
back in ghodrey, olly was always looked up to as a kid, he's always been seen as "the hope of ghodrey" or "the brightest witch in ghodrey", hes been put up on a pedestal bc of him excelling in magic before even getting a master, but it was those expectations that were pinned on him that lead him to believe the Noz incident was his fault.
agott, on the other hand, also knew the weight of expectations put on her as a kid, her own family defined her destination, and she knew the desperation and determination that comes after failing those standards. olly recognizes this determination in her, and immediately takes it upon himself to guide her and help her realize that theres more to magic than proving herself, and although hes sometimes a bit too stern with her, his actions inevitably leads agott to see him as a safe place, a person who wants to see her succeed and progress, a helping hand.
--> olly becomes the unconditional safe haven agott never had, and agott's progression becomes something olly looks forward to guiding.
(IM SORRY. IM DONE. AWESEOME VIDEO. I LOVE THEM. HAVE A NICE DAY. BYE 🏃♀️🏃♀️)
