@thesapphicscoiety: 🎥: The Children’s Hour (1961) “Coming-Out” scene: Part 3. I’ve always cried while watching this scene. As a queer person, I relate to those feelings of “wrongness” & “feeling dirty” (definitely had to unpack that as part of my coming out journey). This scene is also interesting because it demonstrates societys’ attitudes towards queer people that convey this idea that queer people can never be happy and should feel guilty and wrong about who they are, but at the same time, Martha’s interalized homophobia is very relatable to what some queer folk deal with today.
