Gay men, I know being single can feel lonely especially when you’re working on yourself. I’ve been there: cutting back on drinking, focusing on fitness, and realizing I didn’t want to keep chasing attention. Here’s what being single has taught me ⬇️ 1. Loneliness is still better than the wrong company. I used to chase relationships that felt like “the one,” but deep down I was hurting more in them than I ever did being single. 2. I had to slow down instead of rushing into love. In the past, attention felt like love to me, so I jumped in fast. Being single taught me to ask: What do I actually want in a partner? 3. Temptation is real and messy. Social media, hookups, seeing couples everywhere sometimes it made me want to compromise. And yeah, I slipped at times. But learning to recognize those urges helped me take back my power. 4. Drinking and drugs were fueling my mistakes. The truth is, I used them to fill the emptiness I didn’t know how to love myself through. But they only left me emptier. Letting go of that was one of the hardest and most important lessons. 5. I wasn’t as alone as I told myself. When I stopped believing the lie that I was “lonely,” I saw I had real connections around me friends who loved me for who I was, not for something superficial. 6. I realized being in a relationship isn’t everything. I thought I needed to be with someone to feel complete, but it’s not the only thing that gives life meaning. My growth, my health, my friendships, and the way I’ve shown up for myself matters more. 7. I’m stronger than I thought. Almost 30 now, I look back and realize the most important relationship I needed to work on was the one with myself. If you’re heartbroken, lonely, or stuck searching for love, I want you to hear me you are not alone. So if you want to be with someone, do it love is beautiful even when it hurts. Just don’t forget you can stand on your own too 🏳️‍🌈🫶 #gay #gaycommunity🏳️‍🌈 #gaylove #gaytiktok
