Digital scales for the win. No seriously though, I get the resistance with kitchen scales. I didn’t grow up using them, I used US measuring cups. When I moved the the UK, I panicked when recipes were in grams. But then I realised how easy they are to use AND they reduce the amount of dishes you need to wash because you measure right into the bowl. Now, as a bread maker, I couldn’t live without my kitchen scale. Measuring flour in cups is just too iffy and imprecise. You ask five people to measure a cup of flour and you’ll get five different weights. Even ask one person to measure out five separate cups of flour and you’ll get different weights! An imprecise amount of flour will affect the outcome of a bread/baking recipe - the balance of flour to water/yeast/salt will no longer be in sync. So when I’m asked for my recipes in cups, I always reply saying NO and explain that I provide the recipe as is (in grams) so you have best possible chance to achieve a good outcome. Basically my message is, please don’t fear the digital scale. You can find them for as little as $5-10 and they will ensure you’re following a recipe precisely. Let me know if it would be helpful to have a video tutorial on how to use digital kitchen scales? I know this won’t apply to many of you who use them on the daily, but I also know there are a ton of you who have never ever used one before. #kitchenscale #Recipe #bakingtips #focaccia #focacciatutorial #digitalscale #baking #breadlovers #breadmaking
