💔🥹 Our marriage was breaking and we were both doing it. I wasn’t just fighting to win - he was too. I wasn’t just making withdrawals - he was too. We were both so caught up in being right that we forgot we were supposed to be on the same team. Every small fight. Every argument where we both dug in our heels. We were both making withdrawals from our jar and neither of us realized we were going bankrupt together. ⬇️ Here’s when it changed: 1. We both stopped fighting to win. It wasn’t just me. It wasn’t just him. We were both doing it. Every argument was a battle where we both needed to be right. But being right was killing us both. So we both had to stop. We both had to start listening to understand instead of listening to respond. Sounds simple. It’s not. It took a lot of practice. But it changed everything - for both of us. 2. We both stopped treating small things like threats. Washing. Dishes. A tone of voice. “I worked harder than him”. “He worked harder than me”. We were both creating wars out of nothing because we were both already hurt. The small stuff only mattered because we weren’t addressing the big stuff together. Once we both did, the noise stopped. 3. We both stopped letting everyone else in. Family opinions. Friend advice. Social media expectations. It was all noise - and we were both listening. We had to close the door together, build a fortress around just us, and remember: this marriage is ours. Not theirs. ⏳ That’s when the healthy deposits started again. 💸 And slowly but surely compounded over time. Real conversations. Uncomfortable conversations. Both of us choosing each other when it would’ve been easier to quit. Small moments of actually seeing each other again. This is what gave us our dreamy life marriage today. Not the success or the career wins. It was the choice to fight FOR each other instead of AGAINST each other 🫶🏻❤️ #couplegoals #marriage #marriagegoals #relationshiptipsforwomen #relationshiptips
