It's also important to sun dry the whole sofa after cleaning it so the nasty smell (if there is) will dry up

I recommend using a soft brush to scrub it first then the little green. Also dump the dirty water in the toilet so you don’t plug up your sink.

take of the covers and put them in the wash. to insert them into the covers place in a bag, vacuum out the air, stuff in cover. leave the bag

I had the same couch use the foam resolve and a wet rag with dawn dish soap and hot water all stain will be gone

You can throw the covers in an oxyclean soak then wash. Soak the foam itself, rinse, ring, then put them out in the sun to dry.
