If you have ever been lucky enough to experience this kind of unconditional love, you should consider yourself blessed. These for legged companions show us love and loyalty. They bring joy in our best times, and comfort in our worst. They'll greet you at the door every day with a wagging tail and never make judgment. They listen as if they know what we're saying. We are the centre of their world and they don't ask for much in return. We could all learn a lot from being in the presence of dogs. Sadly they don't always get the love and compassion they so rightly deserve. They fall victim to neglect and abuse, either directly or indirectly. During our time here in Ukraine we have been witness to some heartbreaking scenes, and it can take its toll. But its important to remember why we do what we do. We try to give as many dogs as possible a chance at life. Every dog that we do rescue and rehabilitate comes to us with their own injuries or behavioural issues but with time and compassion, these incredible animals heal, and learn to love and trust again. Whilst we would prefer not to be in a position where we have to do this, we are. The only saving grace is watching them recover and we will never stop being the hope and voice for these innocent souls. This post is dedicated to all the dogs out there, and to all the wonderful people who take care of them. Here are a few before and after images of some the dogs we have rescued and cared for whilst in Ukraine. Each unique in their own way and now full of life and love. They are safe and cherished.
