#RAF #revolution #imperialism #capitalism Video dient ausdrücklich nur zu Bildungszwecken! Die Aktionen wurden von Amateuren durchgeführt! The “Rote Armee Fraktion” was founded in 1970, emerging from the 1960s-Movements in west-Germany. It developed in the context of the Vietnam War, anti-imperialist solidarity with national liberation movements, criticism of capitalist society and US hegemony and the authoritarian repressive continuities of Nazi-Germany. The execution of Benno Ohnesorg, the attacks on student activists and state repression against sections of the protest movement, were prove to many students, that the German Federal Republic was part of the repressive Western imperialist order and that fundamental change could not be achieved through the parliament but through an extra-parliamentary opposition of the people themselves. The RAF understood itself as part of a global struggle against imperialism and identified with movements in Vietnam, Palestine, Cuba, and other Third World liberation struggles. It sought the revolutionary overthrow of capitalism and believed that militant confrontation with the state could accelerate broader social transformation. Yet the RAF replaced real Marxist politics with a form of revolutionary voluntarism and the anarchist logic “propaganda of the deed.” Instead of carrying out the long-term work of building class consciousness and mass organization, it substituted the activity of a small, isolated acadamic cadre, far away from the working class. It abandoned patient organizing in workplaces, unions, and everyday struggles in favor of the belief that exemplary acts of violence could generate revolutionary momentum. This strategy proved politically sterile and finally also anti-proletarian. Detached from the masses, the RAF failed to create durable organizations or meaningful roots within the working class. Violence stopped being a tactical instrument of collective struggle and became a substitute for it. Instead, the violence of the RAF actually deterred people from real class war. The later generations moved even further away from the original political references of class struggle, confirming Lenin’s critique of isolated cadre groups, that without deep roots in the masses and organized class participation, revolutionary militancy degenerates into politically isolated action and loses its emancipatory character.
