Your side trim boards go full length. Bring the bottom board to the side board. This will prevent the bottom board from rotting No hate

Pull the trim back off and paint/seal the ends on the siding. That's why it's absorbing water and rotting.

what about the water that gets in between the cedar and trim? shouldn't the tape go under the cedar more?
