Lately, we’ve seen a growing number of people say… ”why not just do it in post?” “Why not shoot clean and add the effect later?” The answer is simple…you as the artist of your frames should want to capture the look you desire as authentically as you can in-camera. From the selection of your camera, lens, lighting, props, set design to yes even filters you should construct and author your frames on set. If you know you want your project to have a certain look then it’s always best practice and important to lean into capturing that look as authentically as possible. With our store commercials we wanted them to feel like they came straight out of the 1980’s or 1990’s so the best and most authentic way to do that was to shoot with a camera from that era.
