As a plumber, yes it should but leave an opening in the back so if it leaks you can see it.

Why caulk a toilet? What's the point? It's going to leak somewhere either way, and if you caulk you just won't know it leaks

nope. Caulk just makes it harder to change the Wax seal, and obscures leaks.

Always caulk! when someone overflows it, caulk keeps the water from getting underneath

as a previous new construction plumber, only caulk till the back two inches. prevents leaks from getting on people's feet and it moving from weight

Toilets need to be caulked. Keeps water and dirt from getting under the toilet. At that point it will also start to stink really bad

All of the comments clueless. If the toilet leaks at the wax seal the “dirty” water will leak underneath the flooring anyway. Which you will not

My husband said I’m not allowed to, but I learned why. Our toilet got cracked and we didn’t know, luckly the water started to pool around the toilet.
