What an emotional day! 🥹🫶🏾 To all my ladies out there, remember this: EVERYONE AND THEIR MAMA will have something to say about how you look, how you dress, or even how you speak. But don’t let their opinions define you. People are quick to judge, yet very few take the time to truly understand your journey and experiences. Some of you may know I lost over 75+ pounds in my weight loss journey. While that was a huge achievement, it kept me busy, focused on nutrition and fitness, and I didn’t have the opportunity to learn how to care for my natural hair. My close family didn’t have expertise in this area either, and though I had friends in college who tried to help, I often felt frustrated and overwhelmed, and would give up. Then I met my hairstylist, a beautiful soul who took the time to listen to my story without judgment or criticism. She simply said, “I’m sorry that was your experience. Let me show you how to take care of your hair.” Seeing my hair transformed in her hands left me in tears—tears of joy and honestly tears of confidence. So to everyone out there struggling with self-acceptance or feeling like they don’t fit in, know that your journey is valid, and there are people who will support and uplift you. Embrace who you are, and don’t be afraid to seek the help you need. 🫶🏾Your story matters!
