I love this type of orb weaver, the Yellow Garden Spider. They are very friendly and easy to hold. I used to throw grass hoppers into their webs all the time when I was a child. They never failed to race over and wrap them up. We had lots of them on our property in Northern California, living in warm places that were more humid with tall reed-like grasses. If you like spiders, I took a video of a Giant Golden Orb Weaver making its web in Malaysia. It’s on my page.
