Terry Jo Duperrault was an 11-year old girl who was found on a small lifeboat in the waters of the Bahamas after spending at least 84 hours alone at sea with no food or water. The story begins when Terry Jo’s father, Dr. Arthur Duperrault, chartered a luxury yacht called the Bluebelle from Florida to the Bahamas for a family trip. He brought with him his wife, Jean, and his kids: Brian, 14, Terry Jo, 11, and Renee, 7. He also brought his friend and former Marine and World War II veteran Julian Harvey as his skipper, along with Harvey’s new wife, Mary Dene. The trip was going well until the fifth night when Terry Jo was awoken by “screaming and stamping” on the deck above the cabin in which she slept. After being awoken Terry Jo went upstairs to see what it was, and saw her mother and brother lying on the floor with bl00d all around them, Terry Jo spotted the captain/skipper Julian Harvey walking towards her. When she asked what happened he slapped her in the face and told her to go down below deck. After 15 minutes, Terry Jo noticed that water began flooding her cabin, she ran into Harvey again, and asked him if the boat was sinking, to which he replied, “Yes.” He then asked her if she had seen the dinghy that was moored to the yacht break loose. When she told him she had, he jumped into the waters and climbed into the dinghy. Left alone, Terry Jo remembered the single life raft. Without food, water, or any covering to protect her from the heat of the sun, Terry Jo spent 84 hours drifting at sea, before she was rescued. When Julian escaped on his dinghy, he was later found and brought to a U.S. Coast Guard site. Julian Harvey told the Coast Guard that the yacht had broken down. He was still with the coast guard when he heard that Terry Jo had been discovered. “Oh my god!” Harvey reportedly stammered when he heard the news. “Why that’s wonderful!” The next day, Harvey k*lled himself in his motel room. On November 12, 1961, Julian Harvey, dr0wned his wife and st*bbed the rest of Terry Jo’s family to de*th. He likely k*lled his wife to collect on her $20,000 double indemnity insurance policy. When Terry Jo’s father witnessed him k*lling her, he must have k*lled him and then proceed to k*ll the rest of the family. Julian then sunk the yacht they were on and escaped on his dinghy with his wife’s dr0wned c0rpse as evidence. To this day, why Harvey decided to let Terry Jo Duperrault live is unknown. Terry Jo survived and is still alive today, she is now married and has three children. #truecrime #fyp #truecrimetiktok #truecrimeanimated #crime #fypシ゚ #foryoupage
