@elephantsofthailand: Why we don’t allow bathing. 1. The elephants don’t like it and are forced against their will into the water. 2. Elephants would not be in the water naturally five times per day as they would an elephant camp that allows bathing. So many tourists each day would have their hands all over them in the water. This is unnatural, and therefore we don’t consider it sanctuary practice. We put the welfare of our elephants first. 3. It is dangerous and unhygienic. These are wild animals at the end of the day. They also urinate and defecate every time they get in the water.
