@drnaanaboakye: Fungal infections are common. It can occur anywhere on the body. In kids, it is common to see it on the scalp. This is called Tinea Capitis aka ring worm of the scalp. This patient presented to my office with a severe fungal infection that caused her to have non-scarring alopecia. Luckily, with the proper oral treatment the infection resolved and her hair grew back. What I loved about this particular journey was discussing hair styles with mom to camouflage the affected area while her hair was growing back.
