@horsebehaviourtok: Trailer loading is a complex skill to teach a horse. It’s not just about loading, but having the butt bar fastened, being tied, having the door closed, hauling down the road - alone or with others - to locations close to home and far away, and then doing all those things again in NEW locations to make the trip home again. #horsetrainer #clinicalanimalbehaviourist #trailerloading

Bringing a trailering companion can also be a good idea for a horse’s 1st time trailering/ otherwise solo outings.

I believe it's MY job as the breeder to train basic loading. loading beside momma being less stressful. but it's up to the buyer to keep those skills

Horses also have to deal with less than subtle drivers part. @ parking areas etc. Bumpy trailer rides can sour horses by themselves.

I personally work on all my horses to load and also to not be afraid of the trailer and that even though the trailer is around does not mean leaving

Admittedly we never owned a trailer, we had to rent them when we moved so we never got to practice the skill because didn't have that equipment.

THIS!! My OTTB was HORRIFIED of the trailer. Now he loads confidently and happily. It did take about 8 months to get there tho.

This is what keeps me from getting another horse. I feel like I need to put in more time with the two I have, I don’t have more time!

Just wild. It’s the first thing we do when we get a new horse. Trailer trailer trailer until it’s perfect. It’s so dangerous if they won’t get in

‘Can you teach my horse the basics like loading’ uhhh do you understand how NOT basic loading is 😂 especially into a 2H straight load.

❤️We live in a fire prone area, loading is always more challenging during an environmental or health emergency.

my mare hates trailering lol, but she will get in. we just give everyone a show while loading. after 3 years you'd think she'd learn

spent a whole month training my horse to load calmly, quietly and easily on command. She was stolen 2 months and loaded BEAUTIFULLY for the thief.
