There are moments as a volunteer that you simply cannot plan… you can only hope for them. 🦁❤️ You sit quietly in the lion enclosure, watching, waiting and wondering if today might be the day they come a little closer. And then suddenly… three of the boys decide to walk right past your vehicle. That feeling? Absolutely indescribable. 😍 For a few seconds, everything else disappears. No phones, no noise, no thoughts about what comes next, just you, sitting quietly, watching these incredible animals move past you as if you’re part of their world. But these moments are also about something much bigger than an amazing photograph. Our volunteers learn that working with wildlife is about patience, respect and allowing the animals to make the choice. We don’t force interactions or expect the animals to come to us. We give them space, observe their behaviour and allow trust to develop naturally. Sometimes you can spend hours waiting and nothing happens. And sometimes… the three boys decide to walk straight past your vehicle and leave you thinking: “Wow… did that really just happen?” 🦁❤️ This is what volunteering with wildlife is about. Not guaranteed encounters, but genuine moments that happen on the animals’ term, memories that stay with you long after you leave.
