Why didn’t you run the joist long, and then trim them back before the last deck board is installed? No ripping required.

Or as we do it in sweden. We mesure how Many lines of boards and cut First and last. Or you remove 3 last and cut them all 3

qualified carpenter from nz here I'd never put one little single slither of board I'd rip the space or even rip the last three boards to equal parts

Wrong … rip the last 5 to six’s boards just a little if you’re in that situation .. always check along the way to see what you end up with
